I don't have long here, so in brief...
Venice is the most amazing place I've ever seen! Words can't describe it, and photos can't portray it Only your eyes can do it justice.
Someone left The Golden Compass in my room. MUST..BORROW...Subtle Knife! Who has a copy?
Happy New Years to all! 2005 to the dome!
Shortly before the New Years festivities began, I learned via long-distance call that my grandma was dying. I can't think of a better definition of "helpless". What could we do? As of now she's still with us, so think good thoughts if you have a moment. Or drink a lot of champagne . I've found this to work well.
A NOTE ABOUT POSTCARDS: some will recieve them, and some won't. I found out Italy treats their postcards like garbage, so I have one for some of you already written, but no way to mail them. Have the faith.
I know it's redundant, but I miss you guys a lot, and am eagerly anticipating seeing you again (along with some Phyllis's, sessions, movies and not having to live from a suitcase).
I'm home on the 8th (Saturday). Be available.
Peace and such,
Zack
P.S. Loveline - how did I live without it? |

Hello All!
I'm so glad everyone still had me on their little friends list. Awesome! Some quick notes:
ANDY - would you record Lost for me? I'll die if I fall out of the loop. Also, be ready to see movies you've already seen once I get back. Sucka!
NATALIE - I'm going to a Steiglitz exhibit at the Impressionist museum in Paris today. Thinking of ya.
LYZY - Why I no hear from you? You make me cry...congrats again on Bennington!
SOPHIE - photos and cheese. Got it.
I am off on an overnight train tonight, and then Venice. I know, I know, poor me. My time runs out in three minutes, so I can't be my usual witty self, suffice to say I miss you all and want to continue seeing your small and loving messages as I overpay for social interaction. I know you guys will all be getting extra sober on New Years, so enjoy it!
By the by, EVERYONE must read Middlesex. Possibly the best book I've ever read. Just amazing.
Until the canals,
Zack
P.S. Party at Matt Tannler's house on New Years! Be there, or be sober. (Dramatic Music) |

Okay. I have no idea if people can or will read this. I kinda hope they do. I did London, and am now situated in grande Paris. Yes Natalie, it is tre cool.
Merry Christmas to all, or Chanukah, or both. No happy Kwanza though, because no one I know celebrates it. This isn't to say I don't know people who are eligible to celebrate it - it's just that they do Christmas. Or I'm racist. Probably both.
WOW Lyzy, congrats on Bennington! That's awesome!
Andy - happy birthday and such.
Please one of you guys say hi to Sam and Brian and everyone for me. Also, Ben (of Luedke fame) was staying in the SAME hotel as me in London! Weird huh? He's in Scotland now...pretty wack.
I know all you guys are too cool for stupid skeevy sessions, but put your health and pride and meager funds aside and have one for me. I'll do the drinking for you. Scratch that - already did.
Um..what else? I've seen a lot of great art and buildings and culture, but you really don't what a list of I've what I've done. I read Sideways (of which the movie is based) and am close to completion on Middlesex. I hope to access an internet cafe again, so please e-mail me or reply to this post or send me fraeky telekenetic messages that haunt me in my dreams. Or all of the above if you're feeling frisky!
I'm eager to hear tales of Winter Break madness, and promise to regail you with some of my own, if you give a shit. Otherwise soak up some movies and social interactions for me, cause I'm lacking. All I have is my little iPod. But oh he serves me well. Not that way. Okay, okay, that way.
Anyhoo, I just realized I'm only 1/3 through my trip here, and if it isn't apparent, I miss you all and want to hear from you BADLY.
Cheers, Bonjour, Farewell and such,
Zack
P.S. To my dome! Okay, not to my dome. But close. Oh so close. Wow, is that innuendo or just stupid. I leaning towards both. Adios lovely white glare from the computer screen. Until Italy - see ya! |

Made an iMix: you should check it out, 'cause your not doing anything else if you have time to fucking read this. My iMix's name? Ear Candy.
Still thinking of quotes for yearbook. Wanna go with a "Clone High" favorite: "...I wear my heart on my sleeve, so when I went to wipe my face, I got heart all over it." -Abe Lincoln Nothing beats that.
Seshed during the car ride to the Arburitum today. Awesome field trip - very relaxing. Chilled with Hobie after, that was fun too. Can't wait to continue my Rafael tradition with Natalie tomorrow.
Figured out my Mill Valley Film Festival moolah situation. I've allotted myself $100, and am pretty sure of how I want to spend it. Also got my concert money together, and all things factored in, I'll have $400 in my bank account on Dec. 1st. I'll take it!
Trying to write a novella about a school shooting, and having major plot issues. Oh well, they'll come to me. Or I'll die sad alone - figures.

| | "All For Swinging You Around" - The New Pornographers | ] | So, I just heard one of my best buds got caught by his parents with alcohol in his new $30,000 car and it has been taken away - forever. That was Saturday. It wasn't 'till Sunday that he got in a serious mountain biking accident and is out of school for a week. Apparently he can barely walk, and very badly hurt his back. I feel awful for him.
In OTHER news... my weekend was rocking. There was a free Spearhead concert, six *six* six brand new CDs from Amoeba who gave me $60 for $400 worth of merchandise (oh well, I would've lost it anyway) and then Sam was super-cool and picked me and Natalie and Lyzy up and we all saw Donnie Darko: Director's Cut.
Nip/Tuck Season 1: Way Too Addicting!
Also saw The Passion of the Christ. Is it me, or is there a black monster devil early on in the film, and don't two kids have their faces melt off while they laugh at Peter later on. Wow...need to read the Bible again.
I got tickets to Bridge School, Death Cab and the Old 97's. I'm stoked (and broke). Does that count as a rhyme. I'm going to say no.
RANDOM THOUGHT: If God didn't want Adam and Eve to eat from the tree of knowledge, why did he fucking put it there? |

| | "One By One All Day" - The Shins | ] | As I sit in the heat, my thoughts turn to the inevitable: money, writing and my weekend.
In order:
I'm SO broke, but I don't really care. I've decided I'm going to Death Cab for Cutie, Green Day, Old 97's, The Pixies, Beastie Boys and The Bridge School Concert before I head to Europe during X-Mas break. Fuck money: this is why I work a whack job!
Speaking of which, I found a list of how much everyone makes per hour at my job, and I make 1/2 as much as the next lowest paid employee. Don't I just feel loved?
Spent Environmental Science writing the beginning of my next short film. Shall I share a line of dialogue:
DOUG I'll get Steve to do it, he's the best with computers MR. SCHAEFFER Steve's dead Doug.
DOUG Oh,...oh, my God... Really?
MR. SCHAEFFER No, but I can't find him, so you do it.
Hilarious right? ...right? Wow, I'm addicted to elipses today!
My weekend is shweet! First, I'm going to "An Evening with Sean Penn" on Friday with my mom. Saturday: free concert with Spearhead, Blackalicious and String Cheese Incident plus Dennis Kucinich! I'm getting there early so I get to yoga with Spearhead. Then we're (my, Natalie, and assorted others) off to Donnie Darko: Director's Cut. I've never seen D.D., knowing it would rock harder seeing it in theaters for the first time! Sunday the Rafael theater has a member's only unveiling of the Mill Valley Film Festival schedule.
I'M GOING TO BE SO FUCKING BROKE!!! AHHHHHHHHHH!!!
Random Thought: If worse comes to worse, there's always bong-rips and "The Passion of the Christ"! |

Want to see "Garden State" one last time: when God when!*
Not down for escuela tomorrow. Oh well, what's a few more zero's in my homework column to add to my senioritis.
Have you ever wanted to just sock someone in the face for something really minor? 'Cause I sure haven't...heh heh..*cough* My Sister's Boyfriend *cough cough* Wow, sore throat. Ought to have that checked out.
The elections on my mind...though I wish it weren't. Do you realize that all four years of college will be under Kerry or God forbid Bush? Scary thoughts!
Best line from "Open Water": "I wanted to go skiing!"
*Note: the above line is to be read with me screaming looking into the sky as it pours rain. |

| | "Banana Chips" - Shonen Knife | ] | Isn't weird how people think they can post this shit on livrjournal and think no one will read it? I just read a post where my friends are dissed, and apparently I'm being used by them. What great friends I have to say things like that.
Shonen Knife is the bestest band ever, and if you don't listen to them, you'll never go to heaven.
Possible partay tonight, conflicted feelings. Wanna go, but it kind-of kills my plans for the next day, and I'm exhausted. Also I'm not what I would call "super ecstatic" with the people I'd be there with. Maybe they're just using me too.
Can't wait to get MAD money at Amoeba tomorrow. Selling so much crap and getting sweet sweet candy. Candy is Death Cab and Smashing Pumpkins CDs if you're not up on the jive lingo. Odds are your not.
Better get back to doing nothing so I can rest-up for getting used later.
My happiness is a golden poem...except not. |

| | "Lyric" - Zwan | ] | Oh Psychology, what a great class you be. Where else can I read about weed for forty minutes and keep my "A". I told my teacher that "Garden State" deals with epilepsey, the dad's a pyschologist and there is anti-depressants, so we should watch it in pysch... I'm a liar.
Found out about two old Shins albums that I can't find ANYWHERE. Whack-mo! Where are my precious Shins....??
I started listening to Zwan again..wtf happened with them? Billy Corgan needs to simmer-down-nah! So much talent but so much ego.
Watching "The Life Aquatic" trailer too much, but what can I say, Wes Anderson is the man. I worry about the special effects though, because their the antithesis of a Wes movie. Then again, I would've thought Cameron Diaz and Charlie Kaufman were a match made in film hell, and I'd be wrong huh?
My Hitchcock class is awesome, but my ADD was killing me yesterday. Even murder and the drop-dead gorgeous Grace Kelly (sorry Natalie) couldn't hold my interest. Fucking Rockstar! Damn you Rockstar! *Sigh* I could go for a Rockstar. |

| | "For Your Love" - The Yardbirds | ] | I got the soundtrack in the mail and the psyuedo-indie pop warms my misshapen black heart. Also I saw "Maria Full of Grace" in a continuing effort to see as many Sundance movies as I can. Still on the checklist:
Open Water The Clearing Mean Creek
Of course two of my favorite movies, "Garden State" and "Napoleon Dynamite" were both Sundance selections. I can't believe in one year I get "Garden State", "Napoleon", "Eternal Sunshine" and "The Life Aquatic" - it's a damn good year for movies.
So I learned that shocking snail's tails helps us learn about memory. God I love senior year.
One quick rant: why do people leave their damn number on their message machines? We know your number - we fucking CALLED IT! Idiot! |

| | Django Reinhardt | ] | So here I am with my own Live Journal. Where's the parade and confetti? Anyway, I'm a happy boy, which I guess isn't the norm for all you Live Journal-ers out there. I work less so I can spend more time writing my play. That's what I do - I pass myself off as a writer. If you are ever burdened with an excess of free time, give it a shot. I guess I should divulge something sexy and different...hmmm. Well my friend is being arrested because he smoked crack, passed out and then had his mom's car stolen by this girl he was with. His mom comes home tomorrow, and has no idea as of now. The proverbial shit is about to hit the fan big time. Well until tomorrow I leave with but a thought: I hope life isn't a big joke, because I don't get it. |
